post Amazing Beer Pong Shots

May 30th, 2008

Filed under: Tonic, Video — Ian @ 9:15 am

As a comment on this vid says that this guy must be training for BeerFest.

I completely agree!

And some further analysis by Deuce and I:

[09:48] thegunshow: actually watch it two more times with me…and an 18 pack of the most refreshing beer on earth
[09:49] BetterOffAloneSB: you arent referring to Coors Light are you
[09:49] thegunshow: you know me all to well sir
[09:49] BetterOffAloneSB: agreed
[09:59] thegunshow: you know what movie really changed my life…
[10:00] BetterOffAloneSB: what
[10:00] BetterOffAloneSB: CB Hustlers
[10:00] thegunshow: beerfest… i hope it had the same impact on your life as it did mine and you we able to absorb it’s message in its entirety
[10:01] BetterOffAloneSB: absolutely
[10:02] thegunshow: good
[10:06] thegunshow: i dont know what to say about this… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zwb43wAx48
[10:06] thegunshow: you dont need sound
[10:11] BetterOffAloneSB: fuck
[10:11] BetterOffAloneSB: that is amazing
[10:12] thegunshow: i will never play beer pong again knowing that guy exists
[10:18] BetterOffAloneSB: yeah
[10:18] BetterOffAloneSB: he is a true champion
[10:19] thegunshow: we should invite him over
[10:22] BetterOffAloneSB: i only play for respect
[10:22] BetterOffAloneSB: and street cred
[10:23] thegunshow: i play for the love of the game…i’m not all caught up in the glitz and glamour and the ugly corporate franchise side of beer pong
[10:24] thegunshow: i’ve turned down British Knights and fubu endorcements on many different occasions
[10:29] thegunshow: i’m sorry if my true love for the sport offends you… but you dont have to stop talking
[10:29] BetterOffAloneSB: no it doesnt offend
[10:29] BetterOffAloneSB: i was just crying silently
[10:29] BetterOffAloneSB: because what you said is beautiful
[10:29] BetterOffAloneSB: I know how much you like BKs
[10:31] BetterOffAloneSB: and reeboks with the straps
[10:31] BetterOffAloneSB: (with the straps)
[10:34] thegunshow: i’m a true poet ian…both in word…and in tiny red balls in shimmering red cups. Seeing the golden spray bursting from each cup showering the greenest of pasturse of a beer pong table with each sunken pong ball is all the reward i ever need.
[10:35] thegunshow: Sure… I do love the reebok pump… but i love the game more.
[10:37] BetterOffAloneSB: I completely agree Deuce. You personally know that no truer words have ever been spoken than when I say I love nothing more than sighting up a shot truer than with robin hoods bow, arcing that miniature sphere through the clouds in a majestic journey that ends with a drop in that candy apple red cup, spraying the contestant with a drop of liquid cooler than the first dip into a pool during summertime
[10:38] BetterOffAloneSB: brb
[10:40] thegunshow: okay… i’ll be here… just thinking about the days of pong…before corporate fat cats like PBR, Uncle Bens and Big Dogs moved in and began to tarnish our noble and game. For it was once that last true and honest form of art.

post Shit I Hate About Blogging

May 27th, 2008

Filed under: Blogging, Tonic — Ian @ 9:23 pm

“Shit” might sound plural, like there are multiple things I hate about it…but I’m really writing this in regards to just one thing I really really really hate about blogging.  Well, actually multiple now because I just thought of another.

Blogging makes me think of some trendy nerd with those little thin rectangle glasses on, an ipod stuck in his ears blaring some emo shit, sitting in a coffee shop furiously typing away on his new macbook air.  This is the farthest thing from me that there is.  And I blog all the time.  although they are always writing about some new web technology, or cutting edge new programming language…I just can’t stay up to date anymore, so this basically just my online journal.  I’m kind of trying to unwire my life in a way, since I’m on a computer all day at work, I kind of like to unplug after and do some real life shit (like my 3 days at the river this weekend - will post on that later).

Anyway, back to what really pissed me off.

Why is every blog post a “10 Reasons Why Every Blog has posts about 5 Reasons to Not do Something “.

It seems like every blogger writes some list of some sort.  I’m not saying that I am not guilty of it as well, I’m sure you can dig up some list post I have done around T&T, but I resolve to never do it again!  Seriously, why does every blog post have to be a list?  Are people really reading blogs just because they can easily digest information in bullet point format?  I don’t know, its just so annoying.

This is the post that set me off about this:

http://www.siteguide.us/2007/07/05/3-reasons-why-comment-relish-is-not-good-for-your-blog/

Instead of just casually discussing why he preferred to not use this wordpress plugin on his blog, he had to put it in some stupid numbered list.  WHY?  A “discussion with a friend” provided him with all of the reasons he listed on this post.

“On the contrary, I feel disgusted because the blog owner has treated me like a bot and not a human.”

This is just ridiculous.  In the world of blogging, anyone with good content is going to have some decent traffic.  If you send out a note to commentors on your blog, They aren’t going to be disgusted…maybe if your message just says - thanks for the comment, now subscribe already!  However, I use that plugin all the time for saying thanks, and pointing the commenter in a couple of directions - a link to my forum, a message about what makes my blog so interesting, a link to the contact form on my site so they can ask me a question.  All relative, valuable, worthwhile information.  So, I question whether this guy even uses the plugin correctly, or is just a cheap way to try and push people to add him to their feed reader?

I don’t know, and maybe I’m off topic, but thats just some blogging shit that really annoys me.

post Heading to the River!

May 23rd, 2008

Filed under: Tonic — Ian @ 8:03 am

My updates have been random at best lately, but when trying to write articles for multiple blogs, its hard to keep them all updated!  www.WakeBoardSD.net has really been taking up quite a bit of my time, so T&T is not feeling as much love as it normally does.  This is ok, judging by my traffic stats, this site is pretty much just my own personal journal (haha).

Anyway, we are heading out to the river today at about 6pm.  Most of the stuff is loaded up, so we just need to hit the road!  WIll be gone thru monday, so hopefully the weather is good out there.  San Diego pretty much sucks right now.  Horrible weather for a memorial day weekend.  Its supposed to be sunnier out by the river, but still in the mid 80’s.  Better than SD, but still not the great weather we were expecting.  I guess with tornado’s touching down in SoCal, nothing is really normal lately!

See ya on monday with tons of pics!

post Awesome 2008 Blacked Out Supra Launch For Sale on WakeWorld

May 21st, 2008

Filed under: Tonic — Ian @ 12:16 pm

Check out this thing HERE ! If I had my boat sold, and some extra cash, I would be buying this thing in a second!

Per Jeremy’s Description:

To many custom items to mention. Everything on this boat has been blacked out with a little bit of gold accent. This boat is a real head turner. I blew out my ACL and don’t want it sitting around all summer. The boat only has 50 hours on it’s 340 HP MPI engine and is like new and then some. It was purchased completely loaded out including heater. I have upgraded the ballast to three 1100 lb bags so at the flip of three switches you will have a pro quality wake. The stereo speakers were all changed out to Phoenix Gold Octane R speakers and it sounds amazing. It is wired for two amps but I only have one 5 channel in it right now powering the 6 interior speakers and a Memphis Audio 12 under the drivers dash. The sub is mounted in a custom box and not free air. I have an oversized Optima Yellow Top battery along side the starting battery. The amp rack is built to hold a second amp for tower speakers but I never installed any because the stereo sounded so good without them. I have a one off Rusty Edition Roswell Area 52 Tower to help the boat stand out. The to wer is matte black with gold trim and I powdercoated the Supra mirror arm to match. Everything has been powdercoated, painted or anodized black. I even took all of the Stainless hardware and had it dipped in a black oxide bath to darken their color.

A steal at $59,995 firm.

So Sick! We have been looking into buying a new wake boat, either a moomba or calabria, but from what I understand, the Supra’s are the nicer model Moomba’s. Would definitely turn some heads in this thing, plus it looks like it throws an awesome wake. Even the rims on that trailer are sick!
Let me know if you would like to make a donation so I can pick up this boat!

post Downtown Hilton Explodes

May 20th, 2008

Filed under: Tonic — Ian @ 3:13 pm

Anyone hear about this?  I work a couple of blocks away, heard about it on the news, but I don’t even think I heard it or felt the explosion.  Pretty crazy when that happens nearby!  Hope they aren’t doing any construction on our building!

Another day of work, 3 more to go before heading out to the river.  After work today - time to fix the brakes AGAIN on the truck (4th brake job!), replace the passenger side caliper.  Then tweak a few things on WBSD, call Key Bank about my boat loan (Looking in to buying a new wakeboard boat and selling the Maxum - more on that later).

Can’t wait to wrap up this week and head out for 3 days on the river!
