post Glove Incident Follow Up

August 5th, 2008

Yesterday morning I logged into gmail to find a new email waiting for me from the “Glove Guy”.  The email was titled “Whats Up Dip Shit“.  It read as follows:

so you ready to split your gear up yet?  I mean really, all BS aside, do you really think someone is going to look through craigslist and say to themselves hey I need a helmet… and a jacket… and a pair of gloves, this guy has everything I’m looking for.  Chances are the person who is on here is only looking for one of those things.
So what do you say, let’s try this again,
hey man how much would you sell just the gloves for?  I have cash in hand, and could pick them up tonight.  thanks and have a great day Ian!
also sorry about the the subject line, your not a dip shit.
hahaha what an asshole!

post Gloves For Sale

August 3rd, 2008

Since I sold my FZR a couple days ago, I’m also getting rid of my riding gear.  I put my helmet, jacket, and gloves up for sale on Craigslist for $400 for the set.  Its a good deal, as the APS jacket is worth $400, the helmet $300, and gloves $100.  So some ass hat emails me tonight and asks if I’ll sell the gloves seperately.  I politely replied that I wanted to sell the set, and wouldn’t seperate just the gloves.  Then it got interesting.  The email conversation went as follows…

Ass Hat: hey man how much would you sell just the gloves for?

Me: Trying to sell as a set, don’t want to seperate.
Thanks
Ian

Ass Hat: Ok well chances are you won’t get someone to buy the set. So how bout I just email you back in a couple when your frustrated and want to separate them?

Me: Funny thing…Someone just came and bought everything except one glove.  I’m so frustrated.  I’ll sell you just that one.  I attached a picture so you can make sure you want it.

Ass Hat: Yeah good luck selling it all. I see you fuckers on here all day long trying to get top dollar for their stuff. Be real it aiby gonna happen.

Me: F you @sshole.

that helmet is worth $300, the jacket $400 and gloves $100.  I could give a shit if you buy it or not, there are plenty of people who know a good deal when they see it.

He hasn’t replied yet.  I guess he wasn’t interested in just the one glove ?  :)

post Early Summer Update

Everything went well with the commercial.  Headed out the bay at 3 and loaded the boat in the water.  Pretty much just anchored with Evan anchored in an 1800 MX across from me, and then a Kayot took off in between us.  I think its going to turn out pretty cool, and it should start airing on Thursday from they said, so keep an eye out!

Things are rolling on the new boat purchase.  The dealership is working on our financing options right now, and the order is already in on having a custom galvanized and painted trailer built.  We are about three weeks out on pickup.  Until then we are trying our best to sell our Maxum, because the dealership can offer us an even better price if we don’t have to trade in.  Regardless, It should work out one way or another, and then it will be heading over to DBG Concepts for some heavy customization.  It will be used for some advertising for DBG and Wakeboard SD, so they are designing a custom tower for it, and installing an insane stereo system.  More details to follow.

Also, unfortunately, to afford the downpayment on the new craft, I’m going to be selling my FZR 600.  I hate to get rid of it, but I don’t want to pull into my savings account to afford the downpayment since I’m saving up for a house, and I can do without my bike as I’d rather have the sickest wakeboard boat known to man.  Therefore, I’m putting her up on CL for $2500.  This is a sweet bike, in perfect shape with only 10k miles on it.  Check out some more pics on Picasa HERE.

So, thats the news.  My friend Laura is coming out from Australia in a couple weeks, she flies in on the 15th at LAX, and is staying for 2 weeks.  I’m super stoked as we are heading out for Havasu on that thursday, and then have the next week off of work!  It will be the first vacation I have had since I finishing up college, so I am stoked!

And thats that in the world of Ian.

post My CRF Adventure

April 3rd, 2008

Filed under: Motorcycles — Ian @ 1:16 pm

A couple weeks ago, Moto-Cam, Office Kjo, and myself headed out to Superstition to get dirty.  I was riding my ‘97 Honda XR400, Moto had his ‘02 KX125, and KJo was bringing his new (to him) ‘03 CRF 450R.  We go out there around 9am and proceeded to bomb around out on the dunes all day.  It was a badass trip, good weather, and we had a lot of fun.  I had the opportunity to ride Kjo’s CRF, and this planted a seed in my head.  I loved my XR400, but being out in the desert really made me realize that its a hard core trail bike, and is super heavy - not suited for desert riding and jumping at all.  It also happens to be one of the few bikes that has a street plate, which in CA can not be done any more after 2003.  Therefore, its super valuable for someone who wants to do dual-sporting: riding on the freeway to your destination, then jumping off road, and riding home afterward.  However, I rarely used it for this.  So I put it up for sale, in search of a CRF 450R.  Here begins my tale:

I put my XR400 up for sale, and had a ton of calls on it, since the plate made it super valuable (not to mention it was in awesome condition).  I sold it quickly for $3000, and wanted to use that money for buying a CRF, without having to spend any additional ca$h.  I wanted to get an ‘04 or ‘05, just to have something relatively new, and I knew if i waited around I could find one in that range for a great deal.  So I start checking around on Craigslist and Cycle Trader, and come up with a couple I want to check out.  One guy in La Jolla has an ‘05 for $3100 firm, (Link Prob won’t work for long, hes reposting like crazy) which is a great price, but I figured he would budge $100 to meet my budget if I showed up with cash.

The other guy has an ‘04 in Lakeside for $3300, but was more willing to negotiate on price, and was throwing in a brand new paddle, and some riding gear.  First I head out to La Jolla to check out the ‘05.
Its an old guy, who has 2 other bikes in his garage, apparently he picked up this one for $3200 a week prior and then scored a good deal on the other two, so just wanted to sell this one asap.  I liked it, so I offered $3100 cash.  He won’t budge on price, and tells me I’m basically stupid if I look anywhere else because I won’t find another ‘05 for anywhere near $3100.  Which is pretty much true, but I told him that $3k was my budget, desert season is about over, so I didn’t mind waiting to find something in my price range…so I walked.   This really pissed the guy off.

I headed from La Jolla out to Lakeside to check out the ‘04.  The guy was really nice, had owned the bike for a few years, knew the history, and it was super clean.  I offered $2800 and he accepted it.  While the filling out paperwork I get 4 calls from a  La Jolla number, and finally answer.  Its the previous guy who decided that he will now accept $3000 cash for it right then.  I told him I was going to get something else, and he says “well you offered me $3 for it earlier, and now I will accept it”.  I tell him that my offer was valid 3 hours ago when I was standing in his garage with cash, and he declined it.  I purchase the ‘04 and am pretty satisfied.

The next day I get an email from the old dbag in La Jolla.

I understand you are not in a hurry but will you find a better deal than mine later?  I felt I got the best 450 deal a week ago at $3200 so at $3000 I think it is a steal but I need it sold before I leave town Friday.  I am thinking of taking the best offer over $2500.  Is there any price you would buy it at?  Thanks,Dbag

I know that for $2500, I can resell it for $3000, so I reply that I will swing by with $2500 cash that night and pick it up.  He replies telling me that he wants to wait until saturday to see if he gets any other offers, then reposts it on CL with a price of $2500.  My brother calls him and the guy says he already has an offer for that (me) and tries to start a bidding war!  My brother offers $26 cash right then, but the guy says wait until saturday.  Now he has it posted for $2950 firm.  Hahah, I hope this guy never sells the bike…thats what you get for screwing with people!

post Cheating Wife

October 19th, 2007

Filed under: Funny, Motorcycles — Ian @ 9:02 pm

So lately my wife has been working a lot of evening shifts, and for the past couple months has been carpooling with a male co-worker. At first I didn’t mind, I would rather have someone with her in case she has car trouble or something like that, but it seems that they have become a little bit more than friends. You know the scenario, the phone calls that hang up, she starts wearing nice clothes to work, talking about him all the time, etc. I don’t know what to think. If I’m out in the garage when she gets home (usually after midnight) he just drops her off and leaves, but if the lights are off in the garage and I’m in the house (they think I’m sleeping) they sit out in the car for like twenty minutes. I asked her once what they were doing, she said "just talking"….whatever. So last night I decide that I’m going to see what really goes on out there. I leave the garage door open, but turn out all the lights. About the time she usually gets home, I go out and hide in the garage and wait. In a few minutes, his car pulls into my driveway, and I’m hiding behind my bike. When his headlights shine through the garage and onto my bike, I see some thing that I just can’t believe. The rear sprocket is already worn and hooked but the chain looks OK. Do you think I should change just the sprocket or the chain and sprocket?
